Posted: Sunday, January 7, 2024. 6:03 am CST.

By Horace Palacio: According to a recent report by Riviera Maya News, local police in Chetumal discovered a Belizean man last week who had been reported missing.

While on patrol, officers were approached by the man who sought help, claiming that he had been forcibly ejected from a moving vehicle.

The incident, which unfolded on Insurgentes Avenue in the Forjadores neighborhood, led to the identification of the man as José “Q”. Upon checking Plataforma México, Mexico’s criminal database, authorities were shocked to find that José was, in fact, an active missing person from Belize. In response to this discovery, police promptly provided him shelter and transferred him to the State Police facilities for appropriate care.

José, a 35-year-old taxi driver, was last seen near the Chetumal market along the Belize-Mexico border on December 3, 2023. His unexpected disappearance followed a mechanical breakdown of his taxi, leaving him stranded in Chetumal. The details surrounding his month-long absence remain a mystery.

Police came across José on January 4, 2024, bringing an end to his unexplained disappearance. As of now, no further information has been provided regarding the circumstances of his vanishing or the nature of his ordeal during the missing period.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are working to piece together the events that led to this unusual and concerning situation.
