Taxi driver faces at least three months off the road for not licensing, insuring vehicle

By Aaron Humes: A taxi driver of Police Street, Belize City, will lose at least three months without business after being caught driving an unlicensed motor vehicle that also does not carry third-party risk insurance.

50-year-old Raymond Montes pleaded guilty to both offenses and was fined $250 and court costs due by February 29. But his bigger worry is that the court disqualified him from driving any vehicle for one year, essentially forcing him off the road.

The court ruled that he could return in 90 days to apply to have his disqualification lifted and his driver’s license reinstated.
