Akeem Medina Jones wanted for aggravated assault in Placencia

Posted: Wednesday, January 17, 2024. 5:22 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: A Placencia resident has complained to Breaking Belize News that police are dragging their feet on following up a complaint of aggravated assault reported last week.

According to the complainant, who has asked to remain anonymous since the matter is officially under police investigation, the accused, one Akeem Jones, alias Akeem Medina, came to his residence on January 10 and inquired how he was doing. The complainant had broken up his relationship with Akeem’s mother and told him he was not welcome because of his bad behavior.

Jones claimed he was there to get marijuana but the complainant said he does not keep the drug at his house and rarely smokes it. Jones searched the house and when he was asked to leave he persisted, whereupon a female at the house at the time intervened.

According to the complainant, Jones cursed and threatened to kill the female several times, allegedly gesturing with his hand in the shape of a gun. He then left at the complainant’s demand, walked a short distance down the street, and then turned back in a rage as the complainant again told him to leave. The female who had intervened earlier came to the door and Jones allegedly picked up a Hawaiian-style hoe lying on the porch and hit her, injuring her left hand.

The matter was reported to police, but the complainant alleges that they have been slow to investigate and that this is not the first time he has had a run-in with Jones, including death threats and threats with weapons.

If you have seen Jones or know his whereabouts, kindly contact the Placencia Police Station.
