Belizean doctors receive scholarships from Cuban government

By Aaron Humes: Cuba’s embassy in Belize has handed out scholarships in health specialties to Belizean doctors who graduated in the island nation. The scholarships granted correspond to the specialties of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Nephrology, and Pediatrics.

These scholarships are awarded within the framework of the Cuba-CARICOM agreement according to a statement by the Embassy of Cuba in Belize.

According to Ambassador María Caridad Balaguer Labrada, despite the complex economic situation on the island, aggravated by the strengthening of the blockade measures imposed by the United States, Cuba still honors its commitment to the training of human resources of our sister countries. She added that it is now up to the doctors to take advantage of this opportunity to continue raising their professional and technical level.
