By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: In a collaborative effort with the Aquaculture Unit, the Orange Walk Agriculture Department through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise distributed tilapia fingerlings to farmers and primary schools in the Orange Walk District.

This initiative aims to promote sustainable aquaculture practices while enhancing agricultural education within the community.

A team comprising of Densford Mangar from the OW District Office, Jonathan Carrillo, Neri Bol, and Joe Sarabia of the Aquaculture Unit spearheaded the delivery and introduction of fingerlings to various schools and farmers, fostering a hands-on learning experience for both farmers and students.

The Ministry noted that the tilapia distribution initiative reflects on the ongoing commitment of the Ministry to empower local farmers and educate the youth, fostering a more resilient and sustainable agricultural future.
