Gun snaps twice, shooter fails to hit targets on Collet Canal Street

By Aaron Humes: Two men got a fright on Friday afternoon as they were menaced while working on East Collet Canal, police report.

One of the men reported that they were assisting the other to move from one address to another. After loading what they were transporting into the vehicle parked on the street side, they entered the vehicle when a man known to both of them approached.

The man who was on bicycle pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the man near the front passenger seat, and pulled the trigger, but the gun snapped without firing. The target ran around to take cover and the shooter turned toward the other individual, aiming, but the firearm snapped again and did not fire. The shooter gave up and fled toward George Street.

One person has been detained and the shooter is still being sought as police investigations continue.
