50 more grocery stores and supermarkets were ticketed for price control violations

Posted: Thursday, February 1, 2024. 1:56 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Between November 4 and January 15, inspections carried out by the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise found that 50 more establishments in all six districts were violating the Supplies Control (Prices) Regulations, bringing the total number of violators to 109.

The offending stores were found in a total of 34 locations, including all nine municipalities and mostly larger villages.

The most common offense was selling goods above the prescribed controlled price, followed by a failure to display prices entirely. One store in San Pedro Town was cited for failure to provide records.

Inspections of establishments are ongoing. For further information, kindly contact the Supplies Control Unit at 828-5018, 223-2845 or via email at [email protected]. If you see suspected violations, report them to hotline number 607-4686.
