Belize Elite Basketball League: Belmopan Trojans take down Western Ballaz 71-62 in Cayo

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Trojans got off to a good start in the 2024 Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) defeating the homestanding Western Ballaz 71-62 at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio on Saturday.

The game was the Trojans first ever game in the BEBL having taken over the spot left vacant by the Belmopan Red Taigaz.

The night before, the Belize City Defenders edged the San Pedro Tiger Sharks 85-83 in a thrilling game at the Belize City Civic Center while the Orange Walk Running Rebels dominated the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers beating them 80-63 at the Orange Walk Multi Purpose Complex.

The Belize Elite Basketball League Benny’s will continue on Friday, February 9, with the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes hosting the Orange Walk Running Rebels at the Belize City Civic Center.

One night later on Saturday, the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers will play their first home game against the Western Ballaz at the Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium. The Belmopan also will play their first home game on Saturday against the Belize City Defenders at the University of Belize Gym in Belmopan.
