By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Benque Viejo del Carmen and San Ignacio Houses of Culture will be holding arts sessions for women in celebration of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) 20th anniversary starting Saturday.
Benque House of Culture coordinator Nalleli Yacab told Breaking Belize news that the House of Culture in both Benque Viejo del Carmen and San Ignacio have invited women and girls to three sessions to make art pieces which will be exhibited at the NICH at 20 celebration WOMEX in Art 2024. The women’s art exhibition will be held under the theme StrongHER: Mentoring, Elevating & Ascending Together on March 15.
The House of Culture in both municipalities are providing the venue and material for the women to work on making art pieces for the WOMEX IN Arts 2024 exhibition.
The session in Benque, which will be facilitated by Neima Lognsworth, will be held Saturday from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Benque House of Culture. The following two dates will be decided during the first meeting.
The session in San Ignacio, which will be facilitated by Ana Velasquez, will be held Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the San Ignacio House of Culture. The following two sessions will be held on subsequent Saturday, February 17 and 24.
