By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Genetic Improvement in Sheep and Goat Project, a joint effort between Taiwan and Belize, has been promoting sheep and goats to farmers and has been holding ‘Lamb and Mutton Culinary Craft Workshops’ around the country to help improve cooking skills and support sustainable methods in Belize’s sheep sector. Now, the project intends to extend ‘Lamb and Mutton Culinary Craft Workshops’ to all districts and television as well.
“Look out for a demonstration in your district or on local TV as the industry sails to new heights while also giving Belizeans tasty culinary experiences!” the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise said.
The Sheep and Goat Project has increased the demand for lamb and mutton and made more people in Belize familiar with the flavor and variety of this meat. Lamb and mutton can be cooked in many ways, such as kabobs, stew, birria, curry, or barbecue, and they are delicious and different, MAFSE said.
The culinary workshops have taught participants how to prepare new dishes, ensuring the sheep sector’s long-term success.
MAFSE said the culinary workshops have also strengthened the friendship between Taiwan and Belize, leaving a positive mark on Belize’s food culture.
