Belize basking in sunshine today; Cold front approaches Monday night

Posted: Sunday, February 11, 2024. 8:29 am CST.

By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect a picture-perfect Sunday thanks to the National Meteorological Service (NMS) forecasting generally fair weather across the country. Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the day, transitioning to partly cloudy tonight, with little to no rain anticipated.

However, those heading out on the water should exercise caution. Marine conditions remain moderate-rough with east-southeasterly winds gusting up to 20 knots and waves reaching 5-7 feet along the coast. The NMS advises small craft operators to be cautious.

Temperatures will vary across the country, with coastal regions enjoying highs of 30°C (86°F) and lows of 25°C (77°F). Inland areas will be slightly warmer, reaching highs of 33°C (91°F) and lows of 20°C (68°F). The hills will offer a refreshing escape with highs of 27°C (81°F) and lows of 17°C (62°F).

The fair and mostly dry conditions are expected to continue on Monday, offering another day of sunshine. However, a cold front is approaching, bringing a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over central and northern regions starting Monday night.

High and low tides today:

  • High: 11:21 AM & 11:24 PM
  • Low: 5:12 PM & 6:03 AM (tomorrow)

Sunrise and sunset:

  • Sunrise: 6:21 AM
  • Sunset: 5:52 PM

Moonrise and moonset:

  • Moonrise: 7:49 AM
  • Moonset: 7:56 PM

As Belize enjoys its fair weather, residents and visitors are reminded to savor the pleasant conditions while remaining vigilant to the changing weather dynamics that lie ahead.
