By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On a daily basis, you can find Miss Bernadine Vasquez on the George Price Highway opposite Lin’s Supermarket in Santa Elena Town selling home-made Creole bread and bun.
Today, the Belize Youth Movement (BYM) Cayo continued with their Entrepreneurship Build Up Project and BYM President Adrian Palma and his BYM team members gathered at Ms. Bernadine to gift her a brand-new stove.
An overjoyed Ms. Bernadine expressed her sincerest gratitude and commented that the stove will be used to bake her delicious Creole bread and buns.
Palma explained that the Project was launched in 2023 and since then, the group has engaged in fundraising activities with the goal to be able to empower entrepreneurs in this community.
“Today, I had the opportunity to hand over a new stove to a hardworking entrepreneur in our community, Miss Bernadine Vasquez. As the President of the Belize Youth Movement for Cayo Central, I remain committed to positively contributing to my town in every way possible. There are so many entrepreneurs in our community who are skilled and determined to make their own living. With a little assistance, these entrepreneurs can go so far with their business.
This is my aim. To help our entrepreneurs with the necessary equipment to establish their business and be their own boss. As a community, we need to support each other and be the change that Belize needs.
The happiness in Miss Bernadine’s face made my heart melt. I continue to encourage everyone to stand up and help those in need, one kind gesture at a time,” Palma explained.
Through the project, last year the BYM was able to gift entrepreneurs in Santa Elena with weed eaters and sewing machines.
The funds are obtained solely through fundraising activities and the contribution of the BYM President.
