By Breaking Belize News Staff: A car washer who operates from the downtown area of Belize City, Paul Alvarez Jr. 32; was fined $150 after pleading guilty to threatening to kill a police officer.
Alvarez Jr. appeared in court unrepresented and quickly plead guilty to the charge of using threatening words against a police officer. For his guilty plea, he was imposed a non-custodial sentence of a fine of $150 plus $5 cost of court, which he must pay by March 15 or face six weeks imprisonment.
According to reports, a police officer who knows Alvarez Jr. saw him o Freetown Road on February 18 cursing at a man on the street and when the police officer tried to stop him he turned his anger toward the officer. He reportedly told the officer, “I wa kill yuh, only da uniform deh protect yuh. Put down yuh gun.”
