By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Prime Minister John Briceño continues on his countrywide tour meeting residents around the country and listening to their concerns.
In 2020, the PUP celebrated a resounding victory campaigning on their #PlanBelize agenda.
As the PUP heads into the March Municipal elections, the Prime Minister expressed confidence for municipal teams countrywide.
“I’m very excited. You know we have the elections but more importantly it’s a chance to be able to meet with the people and the voters and talk to them. Hear them out what it is that they like what they do not like how we can improve and again continue to ensure that we will continue to do more work. A lot has been done but a lot more needs to be done,” the Prime Minister said.
“I do feel that there is still a lot of support for our government and for our councils. Not everyone is happy of course not but the important thing is I believe that majority of the people have seen what we are doing and want to continue to support the work we are doing,” he added.
Last Municipal elections, the PUP won 65 of 67 seats.
The 2 seats lost include the Mayoral seat in San Ignacio and Santa Elena and 1 Councilor seat.
This time around, the PUPs Matthew Preston Silva and his team is attempting to unseat 3-term UDP Mayor Earl Trapp.
