Police officer loses firearm at Free Zone

By Aaron Humes: The Belize Police Department is missing an officially licensed firearm belonging to an officer in the Crimes Investigation Branch at Corozal Formation.

A formal report indicates that the officer went to the Northern Border on Thursday afternoon between 4 and 7 p.m., taking along her silver Browning Arms nine-millimeter pistol, loaded with a magazine containing nine live rounds.

The officer went to use the bathroom at a gas station next to the fire station inside the Commercial Free Zone and apparently forgot the firearm there. A search commenced but the firearm, officially the property of the Government of Belize, remains missing.

The firearm carries serial number 245PY18556. If you know its whereabouts turn it in to the nearest Police station.
