By Breaking Belize News Staff: Wenjing Lei, 29, the Chinese businessman who was remanded to prison for allegedly shooting a Belizean man who got into an argument with his uncle at their shop in Belama, was back before the court today where he was slapped with an additional charge before being sent back to jail.

Lei appeared in court on Tuesday where he was additionally charged with discharging a firearm in public. Last week he was arraigned for allegedly shooting a man who got into an argument with his uncle at a shop in Belama. He pleaded not guilty and he was further remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March 1.

When he was first arraigned last week, Lei’s attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley had informed the court that the virtual complainant wanted to withdraw the complaint but the court said due procedure had not been followed to do so.

According to reports, on February 18, Castillo and Lei’s uncle got into an argument at a shop in Belama. Lei then reportedly took out his licensed Glock pistol and shot Castillo in his left foot.
