By Breaking Belize News Staff: Andre Kerr, 28, of a Faber’s Road address was fined $2,500 by the court for drug trafficking over two pounds of marijuana almost 4 years ago.
Kerr appeared in court unrepresented on Wednesday and threw himself at the mercy of the court, pleading guilty, as the matter has been hanging over his head from September 2020. As a first time offender, the court imposed a non custodial sentence of a fine $2,500 plus $5 cost of court.
He was given until June 2024 to pay, in default, one year in prison.
According to police, officers observed Kerr conducting a drug transaction in front of them on September 15, 2020 and when he was approached he ran and threw a bag in the neighbor’s yard. When police recovered the bag, cops weighed 989 grams of marijuana, or a little over 2 pounds.
