Italian club selects 20 Belizean players to undergo 2-week trial in Praia, Italy

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After attending a 3-day International Talent Identification Camp, organized by Verdes FC, Italian Club Digiesse Praia Tortora, and the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), 20 players have been selected for a two-week trial in Praia, Italy.

At the end of the Talent Identification Camp which was attended by 56 boys aged 14-16 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan from February 20-22, the Director of Scouting Brian Crespin for Club Digiesse Praia Tortora selected the 20 players for the two-weeks trial in Praia which will be held from May 28 to June 8.

“The players who are selected in Italy will be awarded a fully paid academic and football scholarship from Club Digiesse Praia Tortora,” the FFB said in a press release.

“The Football Federation of Belize and the Verdes Football Club will be exploring several fund raising initiatives to ensure that the twenty (20) select players are given the opportunity to participate in the

selection process in Italy for a fully paid scholarship.”

The FFB said the 20 selected players will leave Belize on May 26 and return in June 9.

The FFB said a second Talent Identification Camp will be held in Belize from October 29-31.
