Minors reported for engaging in underage sex

By Aaron Humes: The law prohibits sexual activity by any person under the age of 16, even with someone of around the same age.

Police in Orange Walk are investigating such a report of unlawful sexual intercourse between two minors, one male and the other female.

The female admitted in the presence of her mother that she had been sexually active since October 2023, having had intercourse several times since then up to January 10, 2024, with her male partner.

A medical examination certified carnal knowledge and the matter remains under investigation, with the Director of Public Prosecutions’ office expected to provide directives on the police file once completed.
