By Aaron Humes: An argument that ended with a teenager facing the open end of a pointed shotgun has led to charges for a Dangriga Town man.
The 17-year-old and his mother, residents of the Hopkins Access Road in the village of Hopkins, told police that around 8:30 a.m. today, Thursday, he was working at a construction site on the Southern Highway between miles 6 and 7 when he was accosted by a man known to him as “Stumpy,” who started confronting and accusing him of stealing plantains and a blue plastic drum from his farm.
The argument lasted for ten minutes with “Stumpy” growing more aggressive, before he took his 12-gauge shotgun which he was carrying on his back and turned it in front of him before shouting: “I will [shoot] you…wait when I see you, you will see what will happen to you, I will knock you down.”
Police brought in “Stumpy,” full name Philip Gutierrez, 67, of Mile 3, Stann Creek Valley Road, confiscated his weapon and ammunition, and arrested and charged him with Aggravated Assault and Using Threatening Words.
