EA Warriors start defense of Belize Men’s National Volleyball Championship against Shockwave on Friday evening

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The EA Warriors are on a quest to win a third consecutive Belize Men’s National Volleyball Championship at the Countryside Park in Spanish Lookout this weekend. They start their bid against Shockwave at 6:00 on Friday evening in the tournament that will end on Sunday.

The Warriors captured the 2022 Championship at the Mexico Center in Belize City defeating The 822 in three sets 25-22, 23-25, 15-9.  They earned their second national crown in 2023 when they defeated the HRCU Eagles 2-1 (23-25, 27-25, 15-13) at the SCA Mercy Center in Belize City.

The Toledo Assassins, who finished last year third with a 2-0 (25-14, 25-17) win over the Orange Walk Sugar City Cobras, take on T-Sharp in the second game at 7:00 pm. The EA Warriors Jr close opening night against the University of Belize (UB). (See full schedule below.)

Thirty three games will be played throughout the three days on two courts.

The 12 teams competing this year have been divided into three pools. Pool A features the defending champions EA Warriors, Alpha Warriors, Rednex B, and Shockwave. Group B comprises the Toledo Assassins, SE Jaguars, SE Junior Jaguars, and T-Sharp and Group C is made up of the EA Warriors Jr, Rednex, SQ Dragons, and UB.

Thirty three games will be played throughout the three days on two courts.

The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

Games on Saturday start at 10:00 am and on Sunday at 9:00 am. Entrance is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
