By Breaking Belize News Staff: Every so often, police charge people with seemingly random and obscure charges that exist on the law books, and one man had such a charge, targeted at vagrancy, dismissed against him in court on Monday.

Brian Adams, a 22-year-old butcher with no fixed address, appeared in court unrepresented on Monday to answer to a rather strange charge of “wandering abroad.” It is a charge to target vagrancy, and homelessness and to discourage begging, and gathering alms.

According to Adams, he was picking up pint bottles in the Pickstock area when police approached him and accused him of wandering abroad. In court, the Magistrate dismissed the charge against him and he was free to go.
