Votes set to be counted in municipal elections 2024; preliminary figures confirm low voter turnout

Posted: Wednesday, March 6, 2024. 8:13 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: It’s all over bar the counting.

Polls closed at 6 p.m. countrywide and counting is set to take place beginning at or near 8 p.m., with first results expected thereafter.

As of 7 p.m. unofficial national voter turnout was 57.75 percent, with a late surge of voters getting that mark near to figures for turnout for previous stand-alone elections.

Belize City will see counting in each constituency as will as San Ignacio/Santa Elena while others will have one central counting station.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) will have the results as they happen.
