Premier League of Belize: Altitude shock Verdes 2-1, leaders drop 1st game in Closing Season

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes fell for the first time in the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Season against defending champions Altitude at home at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

Dejmari Pop gave Verdes notice in the 22^nd minute but the PLB present leaders bounced back levelling the score at 1-1 on a Darrel Myvett goal in the 40^th minute.

But Altitude weren’t going home without a victory on Sunday. They started their celebration when Colombian Andrés Orozco unclocked the Verdes defense and struck the game 2-1 winner in the 84^th minute.

Despite the loss Verdes continue atop the standings with 24 points from eight wins. Altitude remain in fourth place with 15 points from four wins, three draws, and one loss.

In the other games, Port Layola blasted Wagiya 6-0, Benque viejo United won 2-1 over crosstown rivals Police Benque 1-0, and Progresso edged the Bandits 1-0.
