By Sadani Harrison: I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire nation of Belize for supporting and indulging in the thrill of yet another successful year of La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge. It is indeed a privilege and honor to be at the forefront of such a magnificent event in representation of the legendary Harrison brothers namely, Orlando Harrison & Richard Harrison, who are responsible for pioneering this nationally renowned event; undeniably and unequivocally etched in Belize’s History and Heritage.

Special thanks, first and foremost to the participants in the race – the paddlers. We cannot begin to thank you all enough for your participation and significant contribution throughout the years. You all are the beating heart and literal driving motor of this event. Without you, there would be no Ruta Maya. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Orlando and Richard, knows that they stood for community and inclusivity and this is what we will continue to promote as a family and as owners of La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge. Your efforts and sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Secondly, we say a BIG thank you to the supporting cast and fans of these valiant paddlers/teams. Equally as powerful and persevering, impactful and outrightly exhilerating, are these cheerleaders and fans. Huge shoutout to the Wateva Boyz crew – a definite fan favorite – best from the West for always supporting La Ruta Maya and bringing people out in numbers to literally breed life into this event from the sidelines and riverbanks. Shout out to the Coast Guard, team PACT, Lucas Oil, Galen University and UB supporters aswell for bringing the hype each and every year! Thank you, thank you, thank you once again to the entire nation. Whether you supported from home or you brought out your family to the river banks to experience the thrill of the race.

Last but certainly not least, i want to thank the organizers of the race – Love FM, my aunt Dr. Aline Harrison & uncle Roberto Harrison and our corportate Sponsor BELIKIN. Thank you all so much for carrying the torch and keeping the fire burning! My father placed his trust in you believing that you could carry La Ruta Maya forward and you all have done just that. We look forward to your continued collaborative efforts towards making this event bigger and better for all of Belize! Special thanks to all other sponsors who make this event possible each and every year! It literally requires an entire community effort to execute such a mega event and we cannot say enough thank yous to everyone who assist in even the smallest but significant ways.

In closing, we look forward with hope and excitement for La Ruta Maya 2025. In the wonderful words of your 2024, back to back CHAMPS – Slim & Trim like Guava Limb:

“May our ancestors guide us,

May we all be united

With great joy, we celebrate OUR heritage.”

Long live La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge and long live Belize!!!
