Belize Firearms Association calls for action against gun violence

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Belize Firearms Association Ltd. (BFA) today issued a strong statement condemning gun violence and calling for a multi-pronged approach to address the issue.

The statement comes in the wake of recent gun violence incidents in Belize City and Belmopan, which tragically resulted in fatalities. The BFA expressed deep concern about the impact of gun violence on Belizean communities and called for all stakeholders to work together to create a safer nation.

“We are writing this letter not only as advocates for responsible firearm ownership but also as concerned citizens deeply troubled by the devastating impact of gun-related violence on our communities,” the statement said.

The BFA emphasized its commitment to promoting responsible gun ownership and condemned the misuse of firearms. The association outlined a four-point plan to address gun violence, including:

Promoting responsible firearm ownership practices, training, and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Advocating for comprehensive measures to prevent gun violence, including enhanced law enforcement efforts, community-based interventions, and initiatives to address the root causes of violence.
Supporting initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
Providing educational resources and support programs to promote firearm safety and responsible use among all segments of society.

The BFA urged all Belizeans to join them in this critical endeavor to create a safer and more peaceful Belize.

“We recognize that addressing the complex issue of gun violence requires a multi-faceted approach and the collective efforts of all Belizeans,” the statement concluded. “Together, we can make a difference.”
