By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) announced that today was a landmark day for healthcare in Belize.

The 128-Slice Fuji CT Scanner was installed at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Kevin Bernard expressed excitement at this transformative moment.

“As the Minister of Health and Wellness, it was my honor to visit Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) and witness a transformative moment in the history of our nation’s medical services. The arrival and installation of the new 128-Slice Fuji Brand CT Scanner at our esteemed tertiary hospital marks the beginning of a new era in diagnostic precision and patient care,” Bernard said.

“The air buzzed with excitement as the radiology unit staff, adorned in their scrubs, gathered around the sleek, state-of-the-art machine. Their faces lit up with eager anticipation as the knowledgeable representatives from Fuji diligently explained the features and functionalities of this incredible piece of technology. This isn’t just any CT scanner; it’s the only one with such advanced capabilities not only in Belize but potentially in the region,” Minister Bernard added.

Minister Bernard said that this investment is an investment in the people, in the health and well-being of every Belizean.

The 128-Slice Fuji CT Scanner will enable doctors and radiologists to diagnose with an unprecedented level of detail, reducing the need for invasive procedures, and allowing for earlier detection and treatment of a multitude of conditions.

“This is a testament to our Government’s unwavering dedication to the Plan Belize commitment, striving to elevate health care services across the nation. The positive ripple effects of this installation will be felt far and wide, as patients from all corners of Belize will have access to diagnostic services that were previously out of reach,” Bernard stated.

The Minister of Health and Wellness further thanked the team at the KHMH, the diligent Fuji representatives, and everyone involved in making this vision a reality.

“We are not just keeping pace; we are setting a new standard for healthcare excellence in Belize. Today, we celebrate not just an upgrade in technology, but a leap forward for our national healthcare system. The future is bright, and I am thrilled to be on this journey with each and every one of you. Together, we are making a difference,” Bernard said.
