Police investigations begin into Minister of State’s alleged assault, says Commissioner

By Aaron Humes: Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police, confirmed that Police are investigating the complaint made by Minister of State Elvia Vega Samos.

Vega Samos, the area representative for Corozal Bay, engaged at least two persons last week following a vehicular collision before the party motorcade celebrating its municipal elections victory in Corozal Town. Separately, she has had to complain to Police about persons appearing at her private home seeking assistance but causing upset.

The subjects of her claim have each responded via social media denying her version of events, insisting that it was she who aggressed them.

Separately, Minister for Families and Vega Samos’ immediate superior, Dolores Balderamos-Garcia, told reporters she condemned any suggestion of attacking a parliamentarian.
