By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Punta Gorda man visiting Belize City has been sent to prison for six weeks after being busted for the second time in a matter of months with a crack pipe.

Eugene Ramirez, 55, appeared in court on Friday charged with a. Single count of possession of a drug utensil. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Ramirez had just recently been released from prison after being charged with the same offense in January. The sitting magistrate inquired if Ramirez had a drug problem, which he admitted. He told the court he had enrolled in the prison’s drug rehabilitation program and had been in the program for a month before being released.

The magistrate decided that one month in the program wasn’t enough, so Ramirez was sentenced to six weeks in prison to rejoin the program.
