Prime Minister says “no laws were broken” in Andre Perez investigation by Attorney General

Posted: Tuesday, April 16, 2024. 8:48 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: According to Prime Minister John Briceño, no one presented any evidence against Minister of the Blue Economy Andre Perez during the investigation by the office of Attorney General Anthony Sylvestre, and otherwise, “no laws were broken.”

The Prime Minister admitted that one could “question the judgment” of the Minister, but neither his primary accuser nor anyone else presented evidence during the investigation which spanned several months: “I said nobody did. The investigation was that no laws were broken. You could question the judgment of the person, but no laws were broken that came to light. Nobody went to the Attorney General and said here is any evidence.”

Perez was reinstated a few days ago to his Ministry, though lost his Civil Aviation portfolio to the Prime Minister, following his work in returning the San Pedro Town Council to People’s United Party control.

Perez’s accuser charges that he raped and sexually harassed her and then offered her certain inducements. The accuser contacted the Prime Minister directly but has yet to make a police report and has since left the country in self-exile.
