Junior rider Jaylen Briceño wins prep race on San Antonio Circuit in Cayo

Posted: Sunday, April 21, 2024. 8:51 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Junior rider Jaylen Briceño of Team G-Flow won the second prep race hosted today by the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) along the San Antonio Circuit in the Cayo District.

Briceño completed the race in 1 hour and 32 minutes from Santa Elena Town to Georgeville, San Antonio and Cristo Rey.

Top ten finishers in order are Carlton Robinson, Derrick Chavarria, Joslyn Chavarria, Dejon Hyde, Giovanni Lovell, Christopher Waight, Ivan Usher, Fernando Rosado, and Keith Enwright.

A total of 38 riders participated. The Federation thanks them and the San Ignacio Santa Elena Traffic team, as well as former cycling veterans Douglas Lamb and Ronald Sutherland for taking on this event today, and to all who came out to support.

The Federation also asks all cyclists to be vigilant as we understand a drunk driver hit a member of the Dangriga Team as they were heading to Belmopan after the event.

The race is part of preparations for the forthcoming 2024 Pan American Road Cycling Championships to be held in Brazil in May.
