Central Medical Laboratory to be retrofitted

By Aaron Humes: Belize’s oldest medical laboratory, the Central Medical Laboratory, will be retrofitted to increase laboratory space and make the building safer and greener in terms of technology.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)’s Health Sector Support Program in Belize is overseeing the project, with funding provided by the European Union (EU).

PAHO and the EU previously supported the retrofitting of five community hospitals countrywide.

Minister of Health Kevin Bernard spoke to the importance of keeping key pillars of Belize’s health system disaster resilient and environmentally sustainable.
