By Aaron Humes: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has announced that as of 5 p.m., they have been informed by Mexico’s CFE that power supply would be cut as of seven this evening.
The good news is that with the return of the West Lake Gas Turbine at Mile 8, George Price Highway, it has been projected that sufficient power supply is available to meet the electricity demand throughout the rest of the day and load shedding will not be necessary.
Of course, that’s no guarantee as BEL reminds, “…power outages for maintenance and system improvements, as well as unscheduled power interruptions due to unexpected factors or causes outside of our control, may still occur. We will keep you updated on any developments.”
There was a short planned outage in some areas today that BEL said was not related to any load shedding issues.
