Kurtis Belisle arraigned for triple fatality on Philip Goldson Highway

Posted: Monday, May 20, 2024. 6:31 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Kurtis Belisle, the driver involved in a fatal crash last June, has been released on $5,000 bail after being charged with three counts of manslaughter by negligence. The accident, which occurred on June 6, 2023, claimed the lives of Virginia Davis, 27, and teenagers Dorothy Davis and Torrie Gentle, both 17.

Belisle appeared before Magistrate Lois Young today in Court #4, accompanied by his attorney Orson “OJ” Elrington. The charges stem from allegations that Belisle’s negligent driving led to the deadly accident near Mile 10 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

According to investigators, Belisle lost control of his Ford Ranger while attempting to overtake another vehicle, causing the truck to flip multiple times before colliding with a tree. The crash resulted in the immediate deaths of his three passengers.

Belisle, who remains wheelchair-bound due to injuries from the accident, did not enter a plea. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 19, 2024.
