By Breaking Belize News Staff: The trial of Jerome Crawford, 42, for the murder of businessman Owen Tucker, commenced today before Justice Derick Pilgrim at the High Court. Tucker, the 66-year-old owner of Crocland, disappeared in November 2022 and was later presumed dead.
Crawford, charged with Tucker’s murder at age 40, stood accused as the trial began without a jury. The crown’s key witness, an employee of Tucker, testified that he witnessed Crawford, Tucker’s chief security guard, fatally shoot Tucker with a shotgun and later dispose of his body.
According to the witness, on the day of the murder, Tucker was showing his sister around Crocland when Crawford approached and shot him after a brief argument. The witness detailed how he was coerced into helping clean up the crime scene and dispose of Tucker’s body.
Additional testimony came from a salesman at Victor L. Bryant, who confirmed selling 12-gauge cartridges to Crawford shortly before the murder. The trial continues as more evidence is expected to be presented.
