Two ex-call center employees charged with stealing money from coworker’s locker on camera

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two former call center employees, Shilon Ferrufino, 19, and Imani McKenzie, 29, were charged with theft and handling stolen goods after being caught on camera stealing $2,500 from a co-worker’s locker. Ferrufino and McKenzie admitted to their roles in the crime.

Ferrufino pleaded guilty to stealing $2,500 from a coworker’s locker, while McKenzie pleaded guilty to handling $650 of the stolen money. Both appeared in Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Lois Young and received non-custodial sentences. Ferrufino was fined $1,500 plus court costs, and McKenzie was fined $650 plus court costs, both payable by May 30, 2024.

The theft was captured on surveillance cameras at their workplace, leading to their dismissal and subsequent charges. This is their first conviction for such offenses.
