Power restored after unplanned outage in Belize District

By Aaron Humes: Power has been restored approximately 20 minutes after it went off at 10:02 a.m.

Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) said it had sent out teams to investigate and apologized for the inconvenience.

The country continues to grapple with some power outages as it manages resources in the face of a continued drought, high temperatures resulting in wild fires and bush fires affecting communities countrywide.

BEL continues to work on solutions including a 30-megawatt gas turbine for Ambergris Caye and augmenting existing power supply with more renewable energy.
