Ranchito murder at bar: One shot dead and another injured after argument

By Aaron Humes: The Corozal District was the scene of multiple shootings over the weekend, at least one fatal.

According to police, the incident took place at Mi Compa Bar in Ranchito village, outside Corozal Town. 24-year-old Jamour Gabourel and one Eaton Galvez were at the bar when they got into an argument with another person, who pulled out a firearm and shot both men. Gabourel died of his injuries and Galvez was injured.

Police are looking for one suspect but have yet to find out what started the argument, which took place while the men were consuming alcohol.

The murder hits close to home for Corozal Town Mayor Rigo Vellos, who had taken Gabourel in as an employee and a very close family friend. He told reporters that Gabourel was a devotee of basketball and not, to his knowledge, someone who would go looking for trouble.
