BEL alerts customers of potential power outages amid unstable weather

Posted: Sunday, June 9, 2024. 2:43 am CST.

By Horace Palacio: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) announced on Saturday, June 8, 2024, that their team is actively monitoring unstable weather conditions impacting parts of the country. These conditions may lead to power surges or outages.

BEL warns that intermittent power outages may occur as their systems work to protect and stabilize the electrical grid from excessively high or low voltage. Customers are urged to unplug any unused equipment or devices during these periods and utilize surge protectors whenever possible.

Customers experiencing a power outage are encouraged to report it to BEL by calling their toll-free number 0-800-235-2273. While adverse weather conditions may cause delays in response times, BEL assures customers that their concerns will be addressed as soon as it is safe to do so.

BEL will continue to provide updates on the situation as it develops.
