By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Ladyville resident has found himself deeper in debt to the court after pleading guilty to possession of a bladed article, an offense that restricts carrying such items during certain hours.

Henry Randolph Pook, 43, of #36 Apostle Street, Lords Bank area, was charged over the weekend for having a wooden handle knife exceeding three inches in length. Pook appeared unrepresented before a magistrate in Court #4 where he admitted to the charge.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 9, 2024, when Pook was stopped by police at around 3:00 a.m. on Lords Bank Road. He explained that he was returning from his niece’s party and had forgotten to remove the knife, which he uses for work, from his pocket.

The magistrate fined Pook $500 plus a $5 court cost, with a payment deadline of July 31, 2024. Failure to pay will result in six months of imprisonment. Additionally, Pook was reminded of an outstanding court debt of $155, and was ordered to pay $50 immediately to receive an extension for the remaining amount.
