SISE Town Council and Police Commissioner address rising crime with new initiatives

Posted: Wednesday, June 12, 2024. 3:22 am CST.

By Horace Palacio: In response to growing concerns over rising crime rates, the SISE Town Council held a public meeting on Tuesday with Commissioner of Police Chester Williams. The meeting aimed to address community concerns, share new safety measures, and foster cooperation between residents and law enforcement.

Commissioner Williams announced a series of initiatives designed to bolster safety in the twin towns. A new police substation will be established in Santa Elena, increasing police presence and reducing response times. Additionally, the police will increase patrols in high-crime areas, deploy more officers, and utilize advanced technology for crime prevention and investigation.

The Commissioner emphasized the vital role of community involvement in maintaining safety. He encouraged residents to report suspicious activities promptly and cooperate with the police in their efforts to combat crime.

During the open forum, community members voiced their concerns and asked questions directly to the Commissioner and other police officials. The meeting concluded with a commitment from both the police and the town council to work collaboratively to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in San Ignacio and Santa Elena.

This public meeting marks an important step towards addressing the rising crime rates in the twin towns. The implementation of new safety measures and the emphasis on community cooperation are expected to contribute to a safer and more secure environment for all residents.
