67-year-old retired U.S. Army veteran murdered in Belize City

By Horace Palacio: A Belizean-American man was fatally stabbed on Thursday night on St. Joseph Street in Belize City. The victim, identified as Griffith McNaughton Cadle, 67, a retired United States Army veteran, was found lying motionless with an apparent stab wound to his body.

According to police reports, Cadle was socializing with a male individual at A&G Shopping on Baymen Avenue shortly before the incident. The two men walked towards Nurse Seay Street, where Cadle was later seen running, pursued by the other individual. Cadle collapsed at the intersection of Nurse Seay Street and St. Joseph Streets. The assailant fled the scene, running down Nurse Seay Street towards St. James Street.

Crimes Investigation Branch personnel arrived at the scene and processed the area, collecting blood swabs and a knife. Cadle was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m.

The investigation into this homicide is ongoing.
