Forecasters monitor Tropical wave near Windward Islands

Posted: Monday, June 24, 2024. 3:24 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are closely monitoringa westward-moving tropical wave.

The tropical wave is located a few hundred miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands and is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Environmental conditions appear conducive for slow development once the wave reaches the western Caribbean late this week.

This system has a 20% chance of formation through the next 7 days.
