By Aaron Humes: Police have made a quick arrest following the murder of 50-year-old Dion Bodden, also known as “Mr. T,” early on Saturday morning in Pitts Alley, Belize City.

Jeffery Jeremy Pott, 35, a construction worker of Victoria Street, was arrested and charged with murder and this morning was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court on the single charge.

The Magistrate took no plea, denied bail, and remanded Pott to the Central Prison until his next court appearance on August 23, 2024.

According to Officer Commanding Eastern Division, ACP Hilberto Romero, the killing appears to have stemmed from a prior altercation between the men that evening and so far there is nothing to indicate any other issue.

Bowden was shot while walking through Pitts Alley; the shots came from the direction of New Road. Police relied on surveillance footage from the surrounding area to make the identification and subsequently the arrest.

Pott appeared in court on Friday and was issued a fine for public drinking in April. He is also out on bail pending trial for a rape charge at the High Court.
