Nominations being taken for Toledo East by-election

By Aaron Humes: This morning at the Town Hall in Punta Gorda Town, Dr Osmond Martinez was officially nominated as the standard bearer for the People’s United Party (PUP) in Toledo East.

Returning officer Therese Martinez on behalf of the Elections and Boundaries Department is taking nominations to fill the seat in the House of Representatives vacated by the death of Mike Espat in late April.

Wil Maheia is expected to be nominated for the Belize Progressive Party and Dennis Williams for the United Democratic Party.

The Toledo East by-election is slated for July 17.
