Club Atletico, Toledo Legends, San Pedro Conquerors join Mi Gente in National Amateur Interdistrict Championship Quarterfinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Four teams are now qualified for the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship Quarterfinals after Belmopan’s Club Atletico, Toledo’s Legends, and San Pedro’s Conquerors won their series on Saturday. They join Orange Walk’s Mi Gente from Guinea Grass, who had already advanced to the Quarterfinals with a 6-5 aggregate score over MidSouth’s Garage FC.

Club Atletico were the first to qualify on Saturday, defeating Seven Miles 3-0 at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio and advancing with a 5-1 aggregate. Atletico had won Game One 2-1 in Belmopan.

Legends were the second team to qualify on Saturday as they pumped Belize City’s Tut Bay 3-1 at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda. Legends had taken the first leg 3-2 in Belize City last Sunday, advancing with a 6-3 aggregate score.

New Site Hustlers couldn’t hold the home fort at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga and fell 3-2 to the visiting Conquerors of San Pedro in extra time after a 2-2 regulation draw. The islanders qualified with a 4-3 aggregate after a 1-1 draw in San Pedro two weeks ago.

Sunday’s matches

The remaining four quarterfinalists will be determined on Sunday.

Yo Creek United and Corozal’s Calcutta Bulls clash at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk at 4:00 pm. Their series is deadlocked at 2-2.

In a southern match, the Griga Conquerors will aim to take advantage of playing at home in their attempt to break the 0-0 draw they managed against the 501 Spartans in Independence two weeks ago. Their game is set for 4:30 pm at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.

In Belmopan, Belize City’s Caesar Ridge will aim to close the door on Napoles when they meet at 6:00 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. Caesar Ridge hit Napoles hard on Thursday, winning 3-1 in Belize City.

Corozal’s Copper Bank will attempt to do the same as Caesar Ridge when they visit Terror Squad at 6:30 pm at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro. Back home in Corozal, Copper Bank dealt Terror Squad a 3-2 defeat two weeks ago.
