Verdes play friendly match against Los Lobos in San Juan, Stann Creek, on Sunday

Green Machine follow with two international matches against Guatemalan teams

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes will be playing three friendly matches, two in Belize and one in Guatemala, within the next few days. They start with a game against Los Lobos of San Juan at the San Juan Field in the Stann Creek District on Sunday, July 14.

Verdes General Manager Lorin Frazer said San Juan is the village where brothers Jordy Polanco and Alence Ayaa, two Verdes players, are from.

“We are kicking off the new season with a friendly ‘fundraiser’ match in support of Los Lobos FC from San Juan Village,” Verdes said in a social media post.

The match kicks off at 3:00 pm.

Following Sunday’s match, Verdes is set to play the Guatemalan second-division team San Benito FC on Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen. Port Layola had also announced that they are playing San Benito on the same day at 4:00 pm, but Frazer said they have agreed with San Benito for the 7:00 pm match.

The Green Machine will then travel to Guatemala to play the second-division club Chichicasteco FC in the city of Chichicastenango on Sunday, July 21, at 11:00 am.
