By Horace Palacio: Residents and visitors in Belize can expect a mix of sunshine and scattered showers as a moist and unstable airflow continues to dominate the region’s weather patterns. The country’s National Meteorological Service has issued a forecast for today, August 1st, predicting sunny skies with cloudy intervals throughout the day.
While the morning may bring a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly along the coastal areas, these are expected to move inland by the afternoon. Some redevelopment of showers is possible over the southern regions and parts of the coast tonight and into the early morning hours.
Marine conditions are expected to be relatively calm, with easterly to north-easterly winds blowing at 10-15 knots and light chop creating waves of 2-4 feet. Temperatures along the coast are projected to reach a high of 89°F (32°C) and a low of 82°F (28°C), while inland areas could see highs of 94°F (34°C) and lows of 74°F (23°C).
The National Meteorological Service’s tropical weather outlook indicates no expectation of tropical cyclone formation in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Friday and Friday night, cloudy spells are anticipated, along with a few early morning and late-night showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly if engaging in outdoor activities.
