By Aaron Humes: The second week of the William Dawson Sprite Basketball Tournament 2024 was a success, despite some minor challenges according to organizers.
A total of twelve games were played at the Yabra Green basketball court and the HUB Community Center over the weekend. A total of 264 young men participated, making it one of the biggest and best basketball tournaments in the Belize District.
On Saturday, July 27, six games were played at the Yabra Green basketball court: Sandhill Heats 61 vs. Fort George 29, Hardrock Boyz 39 vs. Hattieville Underdogs 30, Blazing Warriors 34 vs. Balling Bulldogs 24, Caesar Ridge Cruisers 38 vs. Blvd Ballers 34, 501 Falcons 32 vs. Kelly Street 29, Survivors Ballers 39 vs. Boom Ballers 27.
On Sunday, July 28, six games were played at the HUB Community Center: Peace Makers 26 vs. Rockville Hard Knocks 25, Don One 27 vs. Third World Ballers 24, Mahogany Heights 27 vs. Team Nash 24, Western Paradise Ballers 41 vs. Orange Court Generals 36, IG Ballers 49 vs. Freetown Hitters 36, Trench Town 38 vs. Legends 36.
The William Dawson Sprite Basketball Tournament 2024 is sponsored by Sprite, Ministry of Home Affairs, Belize Police Department, Leadership Intervention Unit, Dolphin Productions Ltd., Social Security Board, and Rotary Club of Belize, in partnership with the National Sports Council, Department of Youth Services, and the Belize District Basketball Association.
