By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued its weather forecast for today, August 3, 2024, predicting sunny conditions with some cloudy spells throughout the day. Residents can expect a few showers and thunderstorms to occur across the country, lingering mainly inland this evening and tonight.
Marine conditions are expected to be relatively calm, with winds ranging from 0-10 knots and a light chop on the sea. Waves are anticipated to reach 2-4 feet.
Temperatures along the coast are expected to reach a high of 89°F (32°C) and a low of 81°F (27°C). Inland areas are expected to experience warmer temperatures, with a high of 94°F (34°C) and a low of 74°F (23°C). Hilly regions can expect slightly cooler temperatures, reaching a high of 82°F (28°C) and a low of 68°F (20°C).
Tropical Depression Four was located approximately 75 miles south-southeast of Varadero, Cuba at 6:00 a.m. today. It was moving west-northwest at 16 mph with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph. The outlook suggests the possibility of isolated showers or thunderstorms on Sunday, increasing mostly along the coast and offshore late Sunday night.
